My First Floral Arch: A New Way of Painting with Nature

In 2018, I took on a creative challenge that would forever shape my journey as a wedding florist—designing my very first floral arch. At the time, I was still learning the art of working with flowers. Unlike painting, where I could mix pigments to create any color I wanted, this time, I had to work with nature’s own palette. Instead of layering brushstrokes on a canvas, I was layering fresh blooms and greenery into a living, breathing piece of art.

I envisioned an arch that felt organic yet elegant, as if the flowers had naturally grown into place rather than being arranged by hand. With a soft base of white flowers, wisps of fresh greenery, and delicate pops of yellow, I carefully built each section. It was more than just arranging flowers—I had to balance weight, secure the structure, and create a design that felt effortless and airy, yet strong and stable.

When I finally stepped back to look at the finished piece, I felt a mix of pride and relief. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. That first arch was the beginning of my floral design philosophy—timeless, romantic, and deeply connected to nature.

Looking back, I realize how that moment shaped the way I approach my work today. Every arch I create carries a piece of that first experience.

Do you remember a defining moment in your creative journey? I’d love to hear your story!
